This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
N.O.X. is a co-op horror game where up to four players take on the roles of paranormal investigators. Players must find clues, identify the type of spirit, and banish it using their tools, either alone or together with their crew.
N.O.X. puts you in the role of a supernatural investigator. Alone or with friends, you’ll search for clues, identify the spirit, and carry out the ritual needed to send it back. The game is built around replayability, with randomised maps, shifting conditions, and entities that never behave the same way twice.

Each investigation requires you to collect three pieces of evidence from a pool of seven. You’ll rely on devices like spirit boxes, EMF readers, and thermal scanners, but equipment doesn’t last forever. Batteries run out, tools fail, and you’ll need to adapt on the spot. Many tools come in different forms, letting you choose the approach that fits your style.
7 Types of Evidence - From invisible handprints and temperature fluctuations to eerie whispers from the other side, each piece of evidence helps reveal the entity you're facing.
Batteries have a Lifespan - Some tools rely on energy, and batteries can die unexpectedly. Always keep an eye on power levels and swap out equipment before you find yourself in a dangerous situation.
Tool Variations - Certain tools come in multiple forms. Choosing the right tool for the situation and your playstyle will make your investigation more efficient.

There are more than twenty types of spirits, each with its own abilities. Some prefer to stalk you slowly, others attack without hesitation, and some can possess your teammates. When that happens, trust inside the group quickly breaks down.

Once the spirit is identified, you’ll need to drive it out. Over ten different rituals exist, each tied to specific weaknesses. Picking the wrong ritual will only strengthen and intensify the ghost's power and aggression.
Over 20 Unique Spirits - Each ghost is unique and requires a different approach to banish.
10+ Exorcism Methods - Each type of spirit requires a unique ritual to be banished. Some may require special incantations, while others demand the burning of cursed objects.
Be Careful with Your Choices! - If you perform the wrong ritual, the spirit might grow angry and hunt you down.

Every run feels different. House layouts, hiding places, and evidence spots change each time you enter. Randomised conditions and character afflictions keep you guessing, and failed missions leave lasting consequences that shape your next investigation.

The game uses 3D scans of real haunted places to create locations that feel unsettling and authentic. Combined with Unreal Engine 5 lighting, sound, and detail, every investigation feels like you’ve truly stepped into somewhere you shouldn’t be.
To ensure endless challenges, the game features a random map and house layout system, so every time you step into a haunted location, the experience will be different.
Changing Locations Every Time - The structure, room layout, evidence positions, and hiding spots will never be the same, forcing you to adapt with each encounter.
Real-Life Haunted Locations - Experience the haunting atmosphere of real-life haunted places, recreated through 3D scanning technology for an authentic and terrifying experience.
Stunning Graphics and Sound with Unreal Engine 5 - Powered by cutting-edge graphics technology, the game delivers sharp details, realistic lighting and shadows, and chilling soundscapes that make you feel like you're truly in a haunted place.
