Guide: Installing NYIP (Demo) on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is NYIP (Demo)? Features and Description

Claim the Prizren Tower in the first action RPG set in medieval Serbia! Battle demonic navs, uncover forgotten legends, and survive a brutal world where Slavic myth and dark history collide. Your choices will shape the fate of all realms.

The year is 1389. The Serbian army, led by Tzar Lazar, clashed with the vast forces of the Ottoman Empire in their ruthless conquest. Thousands have fallen, rivers run red with blood — but far greater evils still lie in wait. With the knights slain, the ancient protector has also fallen, leaving the mythical Tower of Prizren unguarded...

NYIP is a top-down action RPG with souls-like combat, set in a grim fantasy world shaped by the forgotten myths and brutal history of medieval Serbia. As the smoke still rises over the battlefield of Kosovo, something ancient stirs — navs, the death-spirits of Slavic folklore, now walk among the corpses.

Drawn by visions of the Prizren Tower — a mystical structure said to bridge realms — you, the player, are called to step into a world where dynasties crumble and forgotten gods stir in the shadows. Face legendary figures reimagined through a mythic lens, battle twisted creatures born from authentic Slavic lore, and ultimately decide the fate of Kosovo by claiming the Tower itself.

Will you rise to shape destiny — or will you be consumed by it?

Step into a bold, historically sensitive interpretation of one of Balkan history's most impactful and symbolically charged battles. We don’t recreate history — we reimagine its echoes through the lens of dark fantasy.

The Battle of Kosovo has lived on for centuries — not only in chronicles, but in poetry, epic songs, and the collective memory of an entire region. Yet, no game until now has dared to approach its mythic weight. NYIP bridges historical reverence with immersive storytelling, treating the past not as a fixed set of facts, but as fertile ground for emotional and symbolic exploration.

NYIP invites players into a setting unlike any other — a world where history, legend, and folklore intertwine across the haunted remnants of medieval Serbia. This is a land shaped by real locations, real names, and real echoes of a cultural past rarely explored in games.

From the mist-veiled ruins of Samodreža Church to the cursed fields of Kosovo Polje, every environment is rooted in authentic geography and lore. Here, myth walks hand in hand with history: encounter reimagined figures such as Vila Ravijojla, the ethereal guardian of warriors; Tzarizza Milica, torn between duty and prophecy; Vuk Branković, shrouded in betrayal and shadow; Miloš Obilić, elevated to near-mythic vengeance; and even Sultan Murat, caught in a fate that defies time...

NYIP offers challenging, deliberate combat rooted in the souls-like tradition — every strike matters, every dodge is a choice, and every encounter could be your last. But brute strength alone won’t carry you. The world itself must be understood: its symbols, its silences, and the ancient forces that still whisper beneath its soil.

On your journey, you collect nav souls, that are not just for leveling but could also be used for casting spells. Each spell is bound to the shield you carry, and it gives you both passive buffs - such as resistance or auras, as well as active components in form of damage and de-buff spells.

NYIP offers multiple endings — each reflecting the stories you uncover and the choices you dared to make.

We are currently developing the first playable demo. If this world intrigues you, adding NYIP to your wishlist means more than you think — it helps us bring this forgotten mythology to life, one sword swing at a time.
