Guide: Installing Immersive APM on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is Immersive APM? Features and Description

Immersive APM transforms how engineers monitor and manage software applications. Immersive APM leverages advanced web, 3D, and VR technologies to provide a fully interactive, three-dimensional view of application telemetry in real-time.

This is not a game but a software observability tool. A monthly subscription is required. Visit out web site for details and to get started with your account. Once you have an account and your application is generating telemetry, get the Immersive APM client and view that data.

Immersive APM, developed by Immersive Fusion, is an innovative Application Performance Monitoring (APM) solution that transforms how engineers monitor and manage software applications. Unlike traditional APM tools that rely heavily on log analysis or two-dimensional dashboards, Immersive APM leverages advanced web, 3D, and Virtual Reality (VR) technologies to provide a fully interactive, three-dimensional view of application telemetry in real-time.

At its core, Immersive APM integrates with the OpenTelemetry observability framework, a widely adopted standard for collecting telemetry data such as traces, logs, and metrics from applications. This data is processed and rendered into a dynamic, 3D environment that engineers can explore using VR headsets, AR devices, or standard web interfaces. This immersive approach allows users to "enter the world of their application," visualizing its architecture, processes, and performance metrics in an intuitive, spatial context—akin to navigating a virtual landscape.

Key features of Immersive APM include its ability to offer a centralized, real-time view of an application’s health, making it easier to spot issues like bottlenecks or failures that might be obscured in conventional tools. Engineers can interact with individual transactions, inspect parallel processes, and perform rapid root-cause analysis, often within minutes. The solution is cloud-native, supporting a range of deployment types—on-premise, containerized, serverless, or hybrid—as long as the application has internet connectivity to communicate with Immersive APM servers.

Beyond technical capabilities, Immersive APM enhances collaboration by providing a shared, immersive space where teams can troubleshoot together, improving communication and decision-making. It’s particularly valuable for complex, distributed systems, offering a "single pane of glass" that consolidates performance data into one cohesive, navigable experience. This combination of cutting-edge visualization, streamlined integration, and practical utility aims to reduce downtime, boost productivity, and redefine how software performance is understood and optimized.
