Guide: Installing My Beautiful Misinterpretation of Words on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is My Beautiful Misinterpretation of Words? Features and Description

"My Beautiful Misinterpretation of Words" is a collection of experimental art games I vomited over the span of a year. The gameplay and visuals dramatically varies every moment. One may say it is less of a "game" but more of an "experience". Now, I welcome you into my mind.

A firework show of games(?) – aka, a collection of experimental art games.

Welcome to my mind.

------------------

What is this?

It is...an experience, a slice of a very specific time in my life.

This is a SHORT game(?). Takes only about ~20 min. The longest play session I've seen is about 40 min.

It is the combined games of all games in the collection with the same tile. It is a collection of art games I made over the span of a year -- then recomposed at the end of the year to allow them reflect what I was feeling at that specific moment.

Therefore, the art style from game to game dramatically varies. I have the background of an visual artist, so that is what I know how to do the best :)

------------------

Why did I made this...thing?

The answer is at the end of the game :)

------------------

OK, tell me more about this "thing"

These are all part of my game assets...I don't know if this helps or falsefully build up some expectation.

...ok, what I am saying is, I have trouble to put my game in a genre.

I can promise to these will appear in this game.

------------------

So now, that being said, I was gonna leave the suspense here, but by the judgement of the description rule I shouldn't do that -- so I am talking a bit more about it.

I think I should be clear: there is no goal, no death, no score, nothing -- in this "game".

It is more structed like an "experience", as one may put it.

The control in this game is mouse and its various means of taking input + keyboard.

Scene 1

In which the player plays the inverse perspective of visiting a gallery

I personally enjoys visiting museums and galleries from an young age and frequently visit them. They are an early inspiration for me, and still educational to today.

Control: Mouse

Scene 2

Now it's time to be part of the scene, but now you are an content creator.

But without much previous experience, things can go very wrong....

I started to roam around the high sea of open internet since young, and before I realizing it, I was creating content as well as consuming them.

Scene 3

Sometimes it is helpful to look back on where did one started.

So this time, I looked back at my good-old internet days, of why I started to love creating.

Scene 4

Now, where are we heading to next?

If you played through the end, you know too much about me now lol

------------------

Quetions?

Have questions of the game? Wonder how and why did I get to here? Don't worry, keep playing!

If you are truly stuck: reach out to me! Or you have questions after playing: also reach out to me!
