Guide: Installing NOMIA on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is NOMIA? Features and Description

Play two heroes at once in this story-rich tactics roguelike. Set up combos with your reliable Action cards, or execute masterstrokes by drawing the right Gambit cards. Combine martial and magical might to chart a path through the dream left behind by the shattered sculptor of humankind.

NOMIA is a story-rich tactics roguelike where two heroes coordinate to execute brilliant skill combos.

Guide a warrior and a wizard through a mystifying tale. Harness grid-based strategy and deep deckbuilding mechanics to battle gorgeously illustrated foes. Blast monsters off cliffs, steal their cards, and sling spear and spell to reach the horizon.

Your world has two faces.

The tears of the Mother Star, shattered sculptor of humankind, have pooled into a lake.

By daybreak, the lake devours anything forgotten by every living being. But by nightfall, the void-black sky twists the dreaming waters into infinite visions, where adventurers scour the mysteries of the past to sustain the waking world of the present.

Under the watchful eye of the Mother's progeny, two veteran dream-divers race to unravel the mystery of the crawling nightmare consuming their home.

Two heroes, two hands; no one dies the same way twice.

Your hand has two halves.

Your Actions persist between turns, but have charges and cooldowns.
Your Gambits are drawn from your deck each turn, and are discarded when played.

Set up combos with your ever-reliable Actions, or execute masterstrokes by drafting and drawing just the right Gambits.

Your party has two heroes.

The Mighty has more Actions. The Magical has more Gambits.

Each has a deck of 50 cards expressing their distinct personality and fighting style.

Each can access a pool of 100+ Memories both unique and shared which create powerful synergies.

Each has bonds to strengthen and stories to witness after each night's expedition is complete.

Your foes have tells.

Enemy intents and incoming damage are shown before you commit any movement. Comprehensive information guides clever defense and brilliant counterplays.

Outsmart your foes with precise movement and solid defense. Protect your ally by drawing their attention with an attack. Or, simply kick enemies into a pit with the right positioning and the right knockback card.

Your path is winding.

Each of the five realms features its own monsters, items, and terrain. Battle mechanically diverse foes and powerful bosses as you grow in strength and connection.

Discover the truth behind a mysterious disappearance as a stone-eating scourge devours your home.

Dive deep into the Dream, and play your cards well.

User Reviews

“...All the good of a consistent RPG with all the variance of a roguelike deckbuilder, and I think that makes it actually extremely chef's kiss. [...] This game punches far above its weight class.”
Wanderbots

“Complex combat and hordes of interesting items kept me coming back to this demo [...] if you like card games and tactical combat, NOMIA's a game you should get to know.”

“It's fun to have environmental stuff and to be able to push things off the ledge. I think it's all very neat.”
