This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

Red Land is a pixelated 2d rogue-lite action adventure across a world invaded and infected by a foreign species of colonizer aliens. Humanity is on the brink of extinction, leaving you as one of the last human remaining on Earth.
As the last survivor on Earth, you are faced with the seemingly impossible challenge of overcoming all odds and escaping.
You will:
Search the world for loot
Fight enemies
Connect with foreign civilizations
Drink milk from a rusty spigot to fight your hunger
Go against creatures out of your worst nightmares
Power up mysterious pillars planted by an unknown group, for a slight hope to overcome the horrible fate you are faced with
Getting Resources
You appear in a world lacking natural surface resources. Instead, you’ll find unforgiving slot machines scattered everywhere, leaving you hoping for a lucky roll.
Fighting Bio-Mutants
Their exact origin is unknown. However, it is believed they were created by alien colonizers through horrific lab experiments, then cast away into dark caves.
These mutants grant you Aura upon death, a resource essential for progressing the research tree.
Research Tree
Inside the bunker, you can unlock research nodes using Aura dropped by Bio-Mutants. These upgrades improve your stats and help you progress toward escape.
Boss Fights
If you manage to establish the right connections, you will be able to get your hands on the Demon Altar, allowing you to go up against some of the most dangerous creatures in the world.
Sleep
Sleeping reduces your fatigue and decreases the chance of getting critically damaged by enemies.
DO NOT DIE
Once you die, it is over. DO NOT DIE.
Summary
After an alien invasion of planet Earth, the planet is left in a dangerous state with many bio-mutants haunting the planet. With you as the last remaining human, you search the map looking for weapons and armor. You fight bio-mutants and collect Aura to upgrade your bunker and possibly escape...
