Guide: Installing Tetrageddon Games on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is Tetrageddon Games? Features and Description

Tetrageddon is what the internet does to people. Bring the internet to your desktop with stunning 8-bit graphics, monkeys, and a mild lack of self respect that games can be proud of today.

Tetrageddon is a collection of games, strange rabbit holes, tangents, and a comedic digital nightmare about the internet of old.
It is a bizarre relic from the era of online Flash games, and pretty much delivers on as random of an experience as you would expect.
Each game is wildly different in terms of genre and gameplay. They all have their own silly tangents and Easter eggs to explore. You can spend hours getting lost.

Explore haunted desktops and abandoned spaces as you delve deeper into a pixelated fever dream. On your journey you will encounter silly characters and other oddities while you brave what feels like someone’s long forgotten games folder on a computer found during a garage sale.

Tetrageddon is a satire about our digital culture in the form of a strange collection of mini games. If you like random humor, warioware, miss the days of Flash game portals and the weird trappings of 90's nostalgia... then Tetrageddon is for you!

There are a total of ten mini-games that you can uncover. These range from Anatomically Incorrect Dinosaurs, a dinosaur assembly simulator... to Froggy (It's Hungry!), a post-apocalyptic game about a frog surviving on an international mega-highway at the end of the world.
Tetrageddon is the type of game that's hard to describe and best experienced for yourself.

User Reviews

“It might look like your computer - same crumbs , cat hair wedged between keyboard keys - but no, it has become a Tetrageddon arcade. Launching its own desktop environmet, Tetrageddon fills your eyes and ears and nose and glands you didn't even realise you had with noise and colour and surprise and delight and laffs. I still haven't found a fraction of the secrets hidden in its glitched-out desktop, I don't think. Also, video games. And frogs. Frogs in video games. And frogs with strong opinions on video games.”
Rock Paper Shotgun

“The Tetrageddon portal is a little bit net art, a little bit invitation to open-source collaboration, and a lot strictly delightful, nostalgic play experiences.”
Boing Boing

“Design-wise, Nathalie Lawhead, the founder and creative force behind Tetrageddon Games, looks back on the 1980s with admiration and nostalgia. “There was always a computer in the house when I was growing up, and I spent most of my time behind it,” she says. “I played games from a floppy disk, printed art from a dot-matrix printer and made strange block-like animations using the keyboard on that strange block-like CRT monitor.”
