Guide: Installing ANLG_VOID™ on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is ANLG_VOID™? Features and Description

ANLG_VOID is an intense horror exploration game set in the endless, shifting labyrinth of the Backrooms. Built in Unreal Engine 5.5, it delivers an eerie, lore-accurate experience where flickering lights, distant echoes, and shifting hallways fuel your paranoia. You were never meant to be here.

YOU WERE NEVER SUPPOSED TO BE HERE.

I want you to imagine something for a second.

You take a wrong turn, step through a doorway that shouldn’t exist, and suddenly—reality slips. The world you knew is gone, replaced by an endless, shifting maze of yellowed hallways, flickering lights, and the distant hum of something you can’t see. ANLG_VOID isn’t just another Backrooms game. It’s an immersive, atmospheric horror experience built to make you feel truly lost.

Running on Unreal Engine 5.5, this game pushes scale, sound, and psychological terror to their limits. Every flickering light, every distant echo, every doorway that wasn’t there a second ago—it’s all designed to mess with you. To make you question whether you’re being watched. Because you are.

This is a true-to-lore survival horror experience that respects the eerie, uncanny world of the Backrooms Wiki. And in this world, reality doesn’t just warp—it fights back.

A WORLD THAT REJECTS YOU

The Backrooms don’t want you here, and they’ll do everything they can to break you.

The campaign mode is a handcrafted descent into madness, a slow-burn horror experience that drags you deeper through the most infamous levels of the Backrooms. You’ll wander through vast, eerily empty hallways, liminal spaces that feel just off enough to make your skin crawl, and branching paths that loop back on themselves—if they even lead anywhere at all.

But you’re not the only one trapped here.

As you explore, you’ll encounter other survivors—some barely clinging to sanity, others banding together to navigate the nightmare. Groups like the M.E.G. (Major Exploration Group) have staked claims in certain areas, offering shelter, supplies, and—if you’re lucky—guidance on how to survive. But not every group has your best interests at heart. Some are desperate. Some are hostile. And some… well, some have been here far too long.

Future multiplayer expansions will introduce procedurally generated environments, where the Backrooms shift and change, ensuring no two journeys are ever the same. But for now, the campaign? That’s carefully designed terror, built to pull you deeper into the unknown, one step at a time.

A GIFT THAT BECAME A NIGHTMARE

You play as James, an uncle who just wanted to buy his nephew the perfect birthday gift—a vintage VHS camera. It should’ve been simple.

But something went wrong.

One subway ride later, James wakes up somewhere impossible. Trapped in the Backrooms, with no idea how he got here. No way to explain what’s happening. And that VHS camera? It’s not just a camera anymore—it’s part of him. Warping his vision, distorting his world into something barely recognizable.

It might be the key to getting out. Or it might be the thing keeping him trapped.

KEY FEATURES:

🔦 Authentic Backrooms Horror – Every inch of this game is built with deep respect for Backrooms Wiki lore, from the textures and sounds to the creatures lurking just out of sight.

📹 Analog Horror Aesthetic – A fully realized VHS-inspired filter gives the game a grainy, found-footage feel—like you’re watching something you were never meant to see. (Don’t worry, there’s a toggle if you prefer a clean look.)

🌎 Massive, Handcrafted Levels – Built with World Partitioning and Nanite, the environments are seamless, overwhelming, and eerily empty. Just like the Backrooms should be.

👁️ Survival Through Observation – The Backrooms aren’t as empty as they seem. Some things hunt by sight, others by sound… and some? Some you won’t even realize are watching until it’s too late.

🎲 A Blend of Procedural and Handcrafted Terror – The core levels follow accurate Backrooms lore, but procedural elements ensure that each run feels fresh, unpredictable, and just a little bit more terrifying. (Full procedural generation is coming in future multiplayer updates.)

📜 A Story That Feels Personal – At its heart, ANLG_VOID is about family, survival, and the things we don’t understand. As James fights to escape, he’ll meet other survivors, make impossible choices, and uncover a truth about the Backrooms that should’ve stayed buried.

🖥️ Optimized for Performance – Despite its massive scale, ANLG_VOID is built with performance in mind. While DLSS/FSR support is planned for future updates, the game is already optimized to ensure smooth gameplay across a range of hardware.

YOU’RE ALONE. YOU’RE LOST. AND YOU’RE BEING WATCHED.

Good luck.
