This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
A first-person psychological horror game where you play as Vera, trapped in a nightmare tied to her family’s tragic past. Find and destroy cursed objects and restore lost memories to unlock sealed doors, reveal hidden areas, and survive challenging, terrifying encounters.
Unsealed: The Mare is a psychological horror game blending terrifying gameplay with a dark, emotional story.
You play as Vera, caught between dreams and memories, you search for what should have been forgotten. As fragments of your family’s tragedy surface, they poison your mind and intertwine with your memories, distorting the dream into something increasingly horrific. In this nightmare, everything feels connected - bound by guilt, sorrow, and something far darker you cannot yet comprehend.
What begins as a search for answers slowly becomes a fight against a nightmare shaped by memory, loss, and something far more personal.
Progress through three chapters, each adding new mechanics and increasing the challenge.
FOCUS MEMORY
Use Focus Memory to reveal hidden messages, clues and memories to change the environment, uncover hidden areas, and solve environmental puzzles.
SEALED DOORS
To advance, destroy memory-bound objects to break the seals holding doors shut.
TOOLS & ENCOUNTERS
Use tools such as your flashlight, lighter, bulbs, and camera strategically as supplies become limited.
Death is not liberation; it’s merely another memory, sealed away.
Three Chapters: Three chapters introducing new challenges, tools, and deeper layers of the nightmare.
Focus Memory: Reveal hidden clues and paths to progress deeper into the nightmare.
Environmental Puzzles: Solve environmental puzzles and riddles using logic and memory.
Pure Terror: A mix of constant dread, scares, and unpredictable encounters that keep you on edge.
Sound as Survival: Track hidden objects and dangers through subtle audio cues. Every sound matters.
Challenging Encounters: Survival demands patience, awareness, and smart decisions. Mistakes have consequences.
A Personal Nightmare: A story rooted in family tragedy, grief, and the lingering presence of the past.
Unsealed: The Mare is not only about survival, but about endurance, adaptation, and facing a nightmare that feels all too familiar. Learn from your mistakes, balance caution with desperation, and dare to confront what hunts you. Beneath the fear lies something deeper - fragments of the past, buried guilt, and truths never meant to surface. The Mare may be more than just a sinister presence; perhaps someone you once knew... or something else entirely. Familiarity lingers in every corner, yet nothing feels quite real - as if memory and nightmare have fused into one.
Warning: This game contains flashing lights and intense scares that may not be suitable for all players.
