This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
In a ravaged desert where gasoline and scrap are worth more than life, scavenge, survive, customize your vehicle, and fight for extraction while facing Raiders and mutated creatures.
DuneBorn is an open-world survival and extraction game set in a post-apocalyptic desert. The experience can be played entirely solo, following your own journey, or on shared servers where other players also explore the desert.
The world is ruled by Raiders, colossal mutated creatures, and hostile convoys fighting for territory and resources. Beyond these threats, the desert itself is relentless. Extreme heat, toxic dust, and violent sandstorms turn every incursion into a constant test of survival and decision-making.
Your vehicle is the core of that journey. More than transportation, it serves as shelter, support, and a safe point of return during missions. Keeping your vehicle close is essential. Far from it, any mistake becomes costly, and losing it can mean the end of an incursion.
Explore dangerous regions in search of resources, face Raiders and mutated creatures, and move toward the extraction point when you decide the moment is right. On shared servers, other players may also cross your path, making every decision even more unpredictable. The more you carry, the greater the risk. Extraction is never guaranteed.
Your car is more than a way to move across the desert. It is your mobile shelter. Improve performance, durability, and mobility to handle brutal terrain, sandstorms, and unexpected ambushes.
The desert is home to giant and aggressive insect-like creatures that guard rare materials. Facing them is a choice. Surviving them is not always guaranteed.
Ruins and abandoned facilities have become strongholds for Raiders and armed convoys roaming the dunes in search of resources. Confronting them means constant danger, but also access to valuable rewards.
The sand shows no mercy. Toxic dust, extreme heat, and violent sandstorms force you to prepare, adapt, and continuously upgrade your gear.
Between incursions, return to your Safehouse. A personal refuge where you recover, organize resources, upgrade equipment, and prepare for the next journey.
Explore ruins, camps, and the remains of fallen creatures. Turn what you find into upgrades, supplies, and improvised solutions that expand your chances of survival in the desert.
