Guide: Installing That Time I Found A Box on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

“That Time I Found A Box” is a roguelike deckbuilder where cards are blank slates for you to build, upgrade and modify as you like. Choose carefully when to play them and when / how to improve them.

Discover what’s possible with deep strategic card building and deck building resulting in vanishingly rare moments of there being only one obvious play available.

Choose your allies, have some fun and create game-breaking cards!... And most importantly, be able to put the box down and get out alive.

Features

  • Innovative Card Effect System: Cards are like blank slates. Card Effects can be randomly or purposely added to Cards. Each time you play a Card, one Card Effect is sealed and will no longer trigger when played. Card effects can be unsealed by upgrading or combining Cards, or by using various unique Card Effects.

  • Many ways to manipulate Cards: combine Cards in the Combiner, upgrade Cards in the Vault, place Cards at max tier in the Ascender to rebirth them at tier 0, choose Unique Card Effects when a Card triggers a Tier Up Bonus by reaching tier 5 or 10, play Cards with powerful Card Effects that modify Cards in your Hand, and many more!

  • You control what's in your deck: Add or remove Cards from the Card Pool, from which a random card is added to your Deck each turn. Don't like a card or no longer need it? Place it in the Randomiser to change it to something more useful (hopefully). And many more ways to get cards with card effects that you want, and remove those that you don't.

  • Survive and thrive: strategically build your cards and deck to leverage powerful interactions while gaining favour to make allies and progress. Tactically balance being opportunistic with upgrades and keeping everyone happy. Falling behind may hinder progress and ultimately lead to your downfall!

  • Perks change up gameplay and unlock new strategies: Unlock perks during runs and assign them before starting a new run. Perks may give bonuses but may have downsides. But the downsides might turn into upsides depending on other Perks! Have fun!

Content

  • 25+ perks to change up gameplay between runs.

  • 50+ Card Effects to mix and match.

  • 25+ Tier Up Bonus options.

  • Play board with 7 different ways to play or manipulate cards (Play Spaces, the Vault, the Combiner, the Randomiser, the Duplicator, and Ascenders Persist and Split).

  • 3 phases to complete a run (make an Ally, turn an Enemy into an Ally, defeat the last Enemy)
