Guide: Installing Tombs Of Myra on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is Tombs Of Myra? Features and Description

Descend into the cursed tombs of Myra and free the souls of ancient warriors in this turn-based puzzle dungeon crawler game.

Welcome to Tombs of Myra – my latest game about a cursed kingdom where you must delve into ancient dungeons to free the souls of warriors trapped in blue crystals.

What is it about?

Tombs of Myra is a turn-based puzzle dungeon game. This means players and monsters take turns making moves. Your goal in each of the 120 levels is simple: collect all the blue crystals. Doing so unlocks the staircase to the next floor, bringing you closer to completing the dungeon.

The game starts off easy, but as you progress, the dungeons become increasingly treacherous, filled with more monsters and traps. Luckily, you’ll discover helpful items like swords, shovels, bombs, and shields to aid you on your quest. These tools will let you fend off enemies, break obstacles, and protect yourself.

Every monster in the game has deterministic behavior. That means their movements follow clear, predictable patterns. A big part of the gameplay is figuring out these patterns. While they might seem simple, mastering them can be tricky and rewarding.

Wasps...

Take, for example, your first encounter with the wasp. The wasp always tries to move one tile closer to you vertically—either up or down. If you’re above the wasp, it will move up. If you’re below it, it will move down. Obstacles like walls don’t stop it from attempting this. However, if the wasp can’t move vertically—because it’s blocked or already aligned with you—it will move one tile horizontally toward you instead.

This makes wasps both predictable and dangerous. If you’re not careful, you might corner yourself, leaving no room to escape. But if you plan ahead, you can turn the tables—trapping the wasp in a corner or widening the gap between you and your foe, giving you space to gather crystals and safely reach the exit.

...and other threats

Later levels introduce other threats, like carnivorous plants. These stationary hazards are deadly if stepped on, but they can also work to your advantage. For example, an enemy trying to reach you might stumble into a plant and meet its end. This highlights a key principle of Tombs of Myra: enemies are simple-minded. They follow their patterns without considering the consequences.

As you progress, you’ll encounter a greater variety of enemies, including those with more complex behaviors. To survive, you’ll need to think strategically and make clever use of the special items you find along the way.

Unlimited Undo

Of course, experimenting with strategies is part of the fun. That’s why Tombs of Myra gives you unlimited undo. If you make a mistake or end up in a hopeless situation, you can rewind time and try a different approach. And if a particular level proves too tough, you can skip it and come back to it later.

Do you have what it takes?

So, the big question is: Can you conquer all 120 levels and free the Kingdom of Myra? And more importantly, what will the journey do to you? The legends warn that even the purest souls risk getting lost in the Tombs of Myra.
