This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
What is it, bullet heaven or bullet hell? Better! It's a "bullet novella"! Hordes of enemies, invincible heroes, capricious gods, and heroic labors. Ancient Greek myths in the game authors' irreverent retelling. All of this awaits you in Ahapika.
Chop down an entire tree to gather two branches? Catch a glimpse of a cyclops — with just one eye? Mix up absolutely everything, yet somehow still get the job done? That is a perfectly ordinary workday for a hero of Ahapika — the most heroic agency in Ancient Greece.
Ahapika recruits only the most valiant and celebrated heroes. Not every assignment, however, matches the heroic status of its executor. Start the agency from the ground up — from the requests of ordinary mortals to the whims of the Olympian gods. But be careful — sometimes an innocent request to deliver a package can lead to dire consequences.
Every hero experiences each assignment in their own way — with their own dialogues, their own gods, and their own troubles. One quest, a dozen heroes — a dozen different ways to complicate everything. Play the same quest with different heroes and get completely different stories.
Your adventures will plunge you into a world of intrigue and mystery in Ancient Hellas. The gods are not merely a source of assignments: they intervene in battle, grant blessings and impose curses — sometimes simultaneously, and always for very personal reasons. Only your actions will determine which side you end up on and who will come to your aid in the decisive hour.
Forget "survive for N minutes" — every assignment here has its own story. Dozens of unique story-driven quests with different types of tasks: battles with bosses, delivery, resource gathering, and much more. A variety of heroes, diverse weapons, powerful amulets and Divine Gifts. Hone your skills in the endless arena mode once the story is complete.
Ahapika is waiting for new heroes. Experience in olive picking is a plus.
