This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
Oh, so you stumbled here thinking you can beat the hardest turn-based RPG of all time?
This is an RPG made to challenge your mind and push you completely out of your comfort zone. Here, everything is a test. Logic, strategy, patience, decision-making, and much more. If you're a fan of tough challenges, you're in the right place. But if you're looking for something casual… this probably isn't for you. There’s no "easy mode" here. Just determination and a whole lot of "Game Over".

Thinking Monsters: Enemies have AI levels from 1 to 5. Smarter enemies will actually think — hitting your weakest ally, using deadly combos, and bosses with insane tactics. Some fights may feel like chess matches that take hours to win.
Bestiary: Here you can catalog all the monsters in the game. Each one has unlock levels: Lv1, Lv2, Lv3, and Lv4. You’ll need to complete side quests to raise their level. The higher the level, the more info you'll unlock. Reaching Lv4 gives you a special reward!
No Potions or Revives in Shops: You won’t find healing items in stores. The only way to get them is by exploring and finding them on the maps. Use them wisely!
Save System: To save your progress, you’ll need to find a crystal. The first time you touch one, it saves your game and fully heals your party. But be careful it only heals once!
Hidden Crystals: There are 19 crystals hidden throughout the game. You can trade them for bonuses like max HP upgrades, money, and even a super rare item: the Save Menu. Find all 19, and something REALLY cool will happen.
Save Menu: This item lets you save anytime, anywhere. Use it carefully — it’s extremely rare. In tough puzzles or far from the last crystal, this could save your life. Save it for big moments!
Don't Try to Beat It All at Once: Trying to finish the game in one go can be exhausting. I recommend playing one chapter at a time, enjoying the puzzles and challenges without burning out.

The Legend of Shiande tells the story of a humble blacksmith from a quiet village surrounded by deep forests. One day, strange things begin to happen — people and animals start turning into vicious monsters, destroying everything in sight.
In the face of this threat, an ancient and powerful wizard chooses Shiande for an impossible mission: to save the world from an unstoppable curse. With only his courage, a hammer, and a strong will to protect what remains, Shiande sets off on a journey that may one day be told as a legend.
The Legend of Shiande! (That is… if you can finish it.)
