This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
A text adventure game of the mid Tang Dynasty, where players can experience the story of a lonely city in the Western Regions during the Tang Tibetan War in the 13th year of Jianzhong by the 'bound barbarians'. Witness the growth and helplessness of characters and the rise and fall of the era.

In the aftermath of the An Lushan Rebellion, the Tang Empire is in decline. With the Western Regions in chaos and the Tibetan Empire (Tubo) advancing, Liuzhong City stands as the Tang’s final bastion in Xizhou. Two years after a devastating loss at Beiting, Tubo gathers its forces for a final assault. Inside the city walls, Captain Li Yan struggles to hold the line, while his children—Li Si'an, determined to rally the people, and Yun'er, haunted by family secrets—seek purpose amid the storm. When a mysterious old outsider and a young girl stumble into the city, fate begins to shift. In this war-torn land, will Liuzhong stand or fall?

Li Yan: As the commander-in-chief of Puchang Zhechong Prefecture, at the age of 47, he was defeated by the invasion of Tubo and eventually retreated to Liuzhong City, preparing to defend. However, facing the deteriorating situation of the river and river, he was more interested in finding a way out for the people in the city than defending a city for the Tang Dynasty.

Wen Qinli: Pu Chang was appointed as the Chief Historian of Chongfu, and served in the Ming Dynasty during the reign of Emperor Suzong. At the age of fifty-three, he not only dealt with various documents, but also devoted himself to education, striving to preserve the cultural foundation of the Han people with all his might. He constantly worried about the collapse of his thoughts, hoping that the sage's ideas could eventually save this city from fire and water.

Zhao Shangwu: A lieutenant under the Puchang army, at the age of eighteen. His father was saved by Li Yan and he was also his confidant. I am extremely grateful for Li Yan's kindness and loyal, but at the same time, I am also a good friend of Li Sian, and they face difficulties in both aspects of their family affairs.

Qixin Er: The captured Tibetan priestess, according to her, was never welcomed in Tibet. Her thoughts are diverse, and she has unique perspectives on the times and human nature in her eyes. Buddha's words: Bodhi mind is the cause, sorrow is the root, and convenience is the ultimate goal.

Li Sian: Li Yan's second son, at the age of eighteen, is currently studying under Wen Qinli. He is both dissatisfied and fearful of his father, but also hopes to be recognized by him. His elder brother, who died in battle, became an unavoidable knot in his heart. Now he is running around the city, trying his best to do something, but it seems that nothing can be changed?

Li Yun'er: Li Yan's eldest daughter, the third in the family and the last child of Li Yan. She is fourteen years old and has been weak and sickly since childhood. She realizes that her mother passed away because of her, and her father's avoidance of this has made her increasingly curious about all of this. She is curious about her mother and her father, and even more curious about how all of this actually developed to this point. However, these questions have not yet been answered.

Liu Yue'er: A young girl who was caught in the city while gasping for breath in the war. She claimed to be the daughter of an old friend of Li Yan, at the age of sixteen, but seemed to hide a different identity and motive. The current situation is complex and intricate, and she is equally enigmatic.
