This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
Unblock is a little pseudo-isometric platformer about resilience and the power of never giving up. Jump your way through colorful, handcrafted worlds that are as cute as they are challenging, and help Devon as he escapes the cubic realm to reclaim his ordinary life.
At some point in our lives, we all face tough decisions during challenging times.
That’s exactly what happens to Devon, an aspiring game developer who, after a string of failed projects, is tricked by an evil magician and trapped in a whimsical world made entirely of clay.
In Unblock, you’ll guide Devon through a series of intricate, pseudo-isometric platforming challenges. What’s pseudo-isometric, you ask?
Although the camera angle doesn’t strictly follow traditional isometric standards, we’ve adjusted the perspective and depth to achieve a similar look and feel.
Each level is a handcrafted puzzle, filled with clever obstacles, hidden secrets, and charming details that bring the clay-crafted world to life.
Jump, run, fall and think your way through vibrant environments, all while uncovering the story of Devon’s journey and the magician’s sinister moves. With its unique visual style, secret areas, and rage game mechanics, Unblock offers a delightful yet challenging experience for the most hardcore platformer fans and casual gamers alike.
Will you help Devon escape the cubic realm and reclaim his ordinary life?
First of all, the game is fun. Really fun.
It’s a bite-sized adventure perfect for a cozy afternoon.
Choose your own style! You can select one between more than 40 different skins with all kinds of styles and colors, from simple color swaps to chakra-expanding morphing lasers, and even a few loosely inspired by classic video game characters. Completing all the Achievements will even give you access to some skins that will increase the difficulty level of the game.
This is the first game that we managed to publish and we’d like to make more.
We are Italian and still managed to use the word whimsical in a sentence.
