This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
In this shifting dungeon, you may only move along arrow directions. Tiles vanish once stepped on, and the layout reshuffles! The farther you walk, the greater the combat buffs and treasure loot. Plan your path carefully and keep going deeper—how far can you descend into the abyss?
A mysterious dungeon no one has ever reached the bottom of—its true depth remains unknown.
How many floors does it have? Is there even a limit to how deep it goes...?
You are one of the brave adventurers daring to take on this legendary challenge.
But beware!
This dungeon is no ordinary place—its structure defies human logic, as if it's testing the very limits of your strength and skill.
How deep will you go before the dungeon claims you...?
Inside the dungeon, you can only move in the direction indicated by the arrows on the floor.
Once you walk across a tile, it disappears—only to be replaced by a new one with a random arrow direction.
Will the newly formed path lead you to treasure... or straight into the arms of a monster?
Not all tiles vanish—some remain exactly as they are.
Keep an eye on these persistent tiles and learn to anticipate how the layout will evolve.
In this mysterious dungeon, the farther you walk, the more powerful buffs you'll gain in battle.
You'll also have a higher chance of finding better gear from treasure chests.
In short, the key to conquering the dungeon is simple: keep moving!
You can choose from four distinct classes.
Learn each one's unique strengths and use them wisely to reach the deepest layers of the dungeon.
Tap on a tile and your character will automatically explore the dungeon, following the direction of the arrows.
Combat is also automated—just change your gear and let your character do the rest.
You can freely equip gear across six armor slots (7 types), three weapon slots (8 types), and six accessory slots (5 types). *Note: Some gear may be unusable or perform below potential depending on your character’s stats.
Find duplicate equipment? Fuse them to power up—just be sure you have enough gold!
There are five types of consumable items—use them to restore HP, clear monsters from a floor, change arrow directions, and more to aid your exploration.
For every certain number of steps taken, you’ll gain benefits unique to your character’s class. *For example, recovering HP.
