This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
Geon is a turn-based JRPG set in a not so distant future where the past is seemingly forgotten; ruled by the supreme overlord only known as "George". Geon is a mostly linear turn-based JRPG with a setting that has many sci-fi/fantasy elements while also taking place in a not so distant future ruled by a ruthless despot only known as "George".
Play as a young man who is about to complete the final test before he becomes a member of society. After (inevitably) failing you're forced to leave your home and travel out into the world unsure of where fate may bring you, thus begins your journey. Along your journey you are faced with the task of meeting George, acquiring various party members, and fighting many foes from beyond this world in order to save it from destruction, one of whom might not be who they appear to be...
The game-play is mainly focused on turn-based combat where you can fight many different types of enemies and use many different moves and weapons, many of which have various unique effects and types. For example, there are the gun type weapons that attack multiple times but have a higher chance to miss; the game-play also has many puzzle and exploration elements that involve mini-games and talking to certain NPCs. The game has a heavy emphasis on story/dialogue and focuses on various topics and ideas in humorous, serious, and even surreal ways, you also gain multiple party members throughout the game who have different personalities and join/leave your party at certain points in the story. Additionally there are many secrets, mysteries, side areas/dungeons, and people to talk to, so it's usually best to search the many areas that this world has to offer in order to progress and find things you wouldn't otherwise.
