This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
Gear up your animal hero in this 1–3 player co-op survivor roguelite. Master tactical inventory arrangement to unleash devastating combos. Obliterate enemies and battle bosses to overcome the corruption infiltrating your forest!
You have a backpack. Good. You’re going to need it.
Packmates is a survivor roguelite about turning inventory management into a weapon. The monsters brought claws, spells, ghosts, and slime royalty. You brought a bag full of junk and a dangerous willingness to sort it properly.
Every run starts with a backpack, a handful of items, and the false belief that this will stay manageable. It will not. You will be stuffing weapons beside trinkets, and armor into whatever corners remain while trying to squeeze every last adjacency effect out of the layout.
Need more room? Get a Pocket. Place it on a locked inventory slot to unlock it. Congratulations. Your organizational problem is now larger and somehow worse.
The right arrangement turns a decent build into a disaster for everything on screen. The wrong arrangement turns your backpack into an expensive grave marker.

Power does not come from items and their synergies alone, it also comes from upgrading what you already have. Forge matching items together to increase item level and carry them deeper into your run.
Then utilize Infusion to merge items with Trinkets, transferring powerful adjacency effects onto the item.
With item leveling and infusion, you'll get gear that does more, hits harder, and opens up new layouts that were not possible on the previous Floor.
Standard Adventure — Fight through 3 Acts, defeating elite enemies & bosses to earn Hero Gems which you can spend on permanent hero upgrades.
Endless Adventure — Keep looping through the Acts as long as you can stay alive. Enemies get harder and faster, and you're now rewarded with Legendary Shards for unlocking powerful Legendary items.
Objectives — Head to objectives on each floor to find extra fights that ask more of your build. Objectives provide additional rewards, giving you more reason to push beyond surviving the floor. If you want bigger rewards, you’ll have to earn them.
Every Act ends with a boss, and every boss asks different questions of your build. Bring enough damage to dethrone the Slime Queen in Act 1. Survive the split pressure of Frost and Ignis in Act 2. Make it to Act 3 and bring down the final boss before your adventure comes to an end.
Boss levels are where weak layouts get exposed and strong ones get a chance to show off.
Winning a run is nice. Building for a future of stronger runs is nicer.

Relics are equipped before you start your adventure and change the rules of the run. Boon Relics make things easier. Curse Relics make things more difficult. Naturally, you will eventually equip the dangerous curses on purpose because that’s where the interesting stories live.
