This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

Welcome to Forest Time–a game in which turn-based tactical gameplay is made cozy and peaceful.
Enjoy a wide variety of gentle tactical puzzles, charming characters, and a warm atmosphere. Carefully plan your actions to get everything done in a limited number of turns, or experiment and explore. The game doesn't punish mistakes, so you can learn by trying things out.

- Family-friendly and cozy
- Relaxed pacing
- Turn-based gameplay with plenty of time to consider your actions and experiment
- A variety of task-based puzzles that reward careful planning and clever use of the character's abilities
- Distinct characters to meet and play
- Seasonal and thematic levels (including a Halloween set)

1. 50+ levels grouped in three sets.
2. A variety of tactical tasks that make up each unique level.
3. 8 playable characters, each with their own ability and personality.
4. Short dialogues and stories to set up the atmosphere.
5. Charming and minimalist visuals.
Please note that Forest Time has simplistic visual effects and sound design. We plan to enhance these aspects in future updates and add some quality-of-life improvements.
Besides that, Forest Time is first of all designed to be a puzzle-like tactical experience. It doesn't offer any of the following features:
1. Character progression or leveling up.
2. Inventory or crafting systems.
3. Multiplayer or competitive modes.
4. Complex storylines or quests.
We plan to continue improving Forest Time after the initial release.
For the Winter 2026, we aim to:
1. Improve the sound design and visual effects
2. Add more quality-of-life improvements
3. Add a few new levels to the base game and especially to the Grumpy Grove level set.
Further into 2026, we plan to:
1. Work on new level sets with new characters and mechanics, namely a winter-themed set and one more Japanese autumn-themed set. These new sets will come as DLC for the base game.
2. Add localization to the game.
Forest Time is an indie game made by a small team of enthusiastic people. We highly value your feedback and suggestions. Please feel free to reach out to us via our social media channels or use the Steam discussion forum to share your thoughts, ideas or issues. Feel free to e-mail us if you prefer.
