Guide: Installing Ladder it Up! on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is Ladder it Up!? Features and Description

One guy, one ladder, and a tower you must get to the top of. Get ready for an unforgettable adventure to the top in a platformer that demands patience and precision, filled with diverse environments and various challenges!

Experience an unforgettable adventure of climbing to the top of a tower that holds secrets, using a ladder. Overcome challenges created by the environment and those created by yourself... and sometimes by the ladder.

Traverse and explore a wide range of environments, from a crystal cave, through a volcano and glacier, to a tower... but is it really the end? Find out!

The game on the default difficulty level contains 13 sub-levels. However, this may change depending on the difficulty level or accessing a side level.

Every failure is a step towards success, so the difficulty of the level depends entirely on the lessons you learn from your failures. Climb using the ladder, which is an essential part of your journey, but be careful! One wrong move or poorly placed ladder can result in resetting a significant part of your progress.!

Find crystals that offer minor support on your journey... but what if they have another purpose?
There are 2 crystals available in the default difficulty level. Each serves its own role, but their use may be somewhat limited.

Choose a ladder to your preference. Play to unlock more!
The game includes 4 base ladders and over 10 unlockable unique ladder skins.

Beat your own records or those of your friends! The leaderboard for each mode will update after every run, provided you complete it in a shorter time than before!

Doubting your abilities? Want to experience the creator's original vision? Or have you completed the game and want to challenge yourself in a more demanding environment? Simply choose a difficulty level, and the game and world will adjust to your choice!

The game contains 3 difficulty levels:

          • Cat Mode - for those who prefer less demanding gameplay. The level length is shortened, customization is unavailable in this mode, the ladder is bigger, and there are many elements reminding you of taking the easy way out... shameful.

          • Normal Mode - The main vision of the creator and the intended experience of the game. Access to the full level, Easter eggs, and the selected ladder from the menu will be displayed during the game.

          • Hardcore Mode - A mode that can be unlocked after completing the game on normal difficulty. The level length remains unchanged, but the player's path has been significantly modified to provide a greater challenge. This mode is unforgiving. One wrong move, and you start from the beginning.
