This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
Take on the challenge and discover a completely new 3D sci-fi dungeon crawler. The sophisticated room card mechanics and endless generated dungeons with the form of a cube, this game is unique in this genre. What will you discover while exploring?
Created by a passionate solo indie game developer from Germany.
Dive into dangerous, endlessly varying cube-shaped dungeons with your spaceship – full of secrets, gripping atmosphere, and a unique 3D sci-fi style.
Every dungeon is a cube – made up of 6 sides (6 biomes), each with 16 rooms. Filled with diverse monsters, bosses, and room types, each cube holds challenging threats and great rewards. Visually, you'll discover something new in every run and experience a dungeon crawler like never before.
Choose your favorite spaceship from five distinct classes, each offering unique properties, and explore as much of each cube as you can. Currently, five ships await you – one per class – with more planned for future updates.
As if infinite cubes weren’t enough – you can use collected room cards to manipulate the cube and expand your exploration even further. It matters where you insert a card (which represents a new room). Be smart and try to locate the activation room to unlock the best abilities in the long run.
The longer you stay on a cube, the more dangerous it becomes. Monsters level up and evolve new, unpredictable attack patterns – don’t linger too long.
Thanks to the seed system, each cube can be replayed exactly – with room content intentionally shifting to keep the experience fresh. Challenge yourself, test new builds, and see how far you can go with different skills or routes. Share your seed with friends – maybe they’ll choose a different path?
You’ll find the following 10 room types: Common, Room Card, Boss, Activation, Artifact (¹), Passive Gear, Active Gear, Treasure, Merchant (¹), Gaming (¹)
The passive and active equipment you find in the dungeons is governed by a rarity system: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary.
The advanced buff system keeps you informed at all times. You can always check your current attributes – including changes and modifiers.
Collect Cube Coins (temporary currency) during your runs to unlock new actions and progress further.
Collect Dark Matter (permanent currency) and activate enough cubes to unlock the most powerful skills in the Skill Tree.
Unlock essential abilities across six categories: Combat, Shield, Structure, Technology, Environment, and Universal. With the right skills, you’ll be well equipped to survive long runs through the cubes.
Over time, you’ll build your own universe – as every played cube is stored in your profile. This gives you a clear overview of your best explorations and lets you revisit past cubes at any time.
(¹) These features are currently in development and may not be fully implemented during the Early Access release.
