Guide: Installing System Shooterz on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is System Shooterz? Features and Description

A top-down arena shooter in space where every decision you make can lead to victory...or crushing defeat! Make every shot, rocket thrust, and planet orbit count! Destroy the enemy motherships circling the system in deep space before their drones overwhelm you and exhaust your ship's resources.

You and your fellow pilots go by many names, but to the innocent civilians of the planets you save, you are simply known as the SYSTEM SHOOTERZ...

This is a 2D top-down arena space shooter with rogue-like progression. Unlike other games where all you do is move around and auto-fire, in this game every rocket thrust, weapon shot, and planet pass must be pulled off with extreme timing and skill by you, the SYTEM SHOOTER.

You begin your journey with the young pilot GOOSE MCHONK of the RED LEAF SQUADRON. Using his stock space fighter from the academy and an affinity for PLASMA BOOST(Also know as the Cosmic Egg...) Goose must defend systems and prove himself so he can rise to the ranks of the pilots he admires.

There are countless galaxies with countless systems to defend from the alien mothership menace.

Every level is procedurally generated with five planets to defend from a swarm of enemies coming from deep space. Your ship is controlled by rocket thrust with limited fuel. You also have limited oxygen and ammo! Nothing is free in space. You must fly through planets for refills and pick up what your enemies drop to stay alive and level up your capacities in order to hunt the alien motherships in deep space.

You are a system defense pilot tasked with answering the call of systems in need. Whether or not you choose to help, these systems need you!

You can reroll everything about the level to give yourself an advantage, at the cost of urgency! Pass up hard to defend systems with powerful enemies for an easy fight, or do the opposite and stack the odds against yourself for a hard fight and extra rewards should you successfully defend.

Successfully defend systems to earn System Defense Medals. Combine these with reputation and XP to unlock new equipment, talents, and pilots! Will you find an end to the alien mothership menace once and for all?
