Guide: Installing Vice Grill: Synthwave Survival on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is Vice Grill: Synthwave Survival? Features and Description

Dive into Vice Grill: Synthwave Survival! Fight mutant hordes, whip up meals, tweak turrets, and tackle dynamic gigs in an epic 80s-style arena. Fuel your journey with Karl Casey's electrifying synthwave beats. Get ready to conquer this retro-futuristic world where survival meets style!

  • Intense Top-Down Shooter Action: Engage in fast-paced combat against hordes of mutants with dual-pistols and electric melee attacks.

  • Immersive Synthwave Soundtrack: Feel the adrenaline rush as you fight to the beats of an electrifying synthwave soundtrack by Karl Casey.

  • Dynamic Enemy Waves: Adjust the difficulty by toggling waves of enemies as desired, empowering the player to manage the rhythm of combat. Players have the option to halt waves prematurely or let them proceed naturally. This grants players the freedom to tailor their gameplay experience, whether they prefer engaging in combat or focusing on resource gathering and crafting. Furthermore, the duration and intensity of enemy spawns adapt dynamically based on the player's progression through these waves.

  • Resource Gathering and Crafting: Explore the vibrant, neon-lit landscape to scavenge Junk Piles and harvest Wild Crops, which are essential for crafting and survival. Junk Piles provide Steel for turret repairs and Wood for crafting shipments. Meanwhile, Wild Crops like the Avocato, Berrato, Carotato, Pineapplanto, and Spinachberry are collected for their raw food potential. These raw ingredients undergo refinement at the Processing Station, transforming into processed variants corresponding to their crop type. Processed foods are then taken to the Campfire, where players can create a variety of meals. By preparing five dishes matching the type requested by the Shipment Station, players can combine them with Wood to fulfill the order, earning a significant payout of Screws, the in-game currency.

  • Turret Customization: Enhance the fire rates, projectile speeds, and durability of your turrets to effectively repel the constant waves of mutant attacks.

  • Dynamic Jobs: Engage in a variety of dynamic jobs, from collecting items to hunting mutants, with challenges and rewards that increase as you advance.

  • Survivalist Upgrades: Boost your own capabilities by upgrading your HP, SP, and Movement Speed. This will ensure your survival in the challenging environment.

  • Water Pump Mini-game: Master the dynamic mini-game by utilizing the Water Pump to collect Purified Water. In this game, you'll need to enter a randomized sequence of WASD keys repeatedly. Sell your collected Purified Water to earn Screws, introducing an additional layer of engagement and strategy to your survival efforts.

  • Risk of Losing Screws: Beware of the consequences of failure, as dying in battle results in the loss of all your hard-earned Screws. This risk adds tension to every encounter, encouraging strategic decision-making and prudent resource management to ensure your survival in the unforgiving neon-lit streets of Vice Grill.

  • 80's Themed Aesthetic: Dive into a vivid and retro-futuristic realm awash with cyan-purple hues and nostalgic vibes.
