Guide: Installing Unfinished on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is Unfinished? Features and Description

a game, in pixel art.

a (horror) game, in pixel art.

Welcome to the world of Unfinished. It seems like a world without obstacles, without enemies, just everything as it is in reality. Or is it? Is there a chance of survival? Is there a way out? Can you unravel the secrets that symbolize this world? Or are you just alone in a world filled with monsters? Fear strengthens every monster, they know your every move! And you're just a woman trapped in a forest, longing for home! Does the path seem easy, or difficult? But are you even surprised if you die? Or are you surprised? In truth, there is no real truth about the monsters, but maybe they will be the fate of the world?! Perhaps you will be engulfed in infinite madness, or submerged?! The monsters are always ready to kill you, but you never know WhEn IT WIlL HAPPEN!

You must survive every persecution that follows; surely there will be enemies (Because they are always needed, am I not right?) who will pursue you! But maybe something..., something wants to catch you. (Let's say each enemy wants to catch you).

You must survive everything before the danger comes for you, you must not get too close to the monsters, for they will defeat you. Before you encounter any monster, you are at peace... (in theory) but maybe you never make it home, because that was actually your purpose.

There's only one thing, there may be no way out!

If you need to run, RUN!, Nothing stops survival, nothing at all.

So, maybe you're not safe. But then again, maybe you are? "Unfinished" tells a story where the monsters don't behave typically, their goals aren't ordinary either. Perhaps, in the end, you won't even uncover the secret that revolves around this game, as it forms the essence of the game's narrative. And if someone figures it out, they understand why each monster is the way it is. The main antagonist isn't just some hastily assembled entity; it's a significant monster with a twisted mind.

What the monsters need is safety, peace, and human suffering. Typically, this is what people imagine when they create monsters, but for them, it's something else entirely. They don't need these things; they need their old lives back, before they became monsters. While you're trying to defeat the enemy, it won't matter who's who; you'll just be running from them. There are those who aren't hostile, and you might befriend them, but who knows if they can be trusted?
