This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
In Melan, the player as An will go everywhere and collect memories, thereby revealing some of what is happening in the game. The game is built in a storytelling format with situations that the player gradually discovers through interacting with the environment and NPCs.
Nothing more than a story about someone’s day.
With notes that rise, and notes that fall.
Pain is inevitable, yet suffering remains a choice of our own.
Time drifts in an endless spiral, carrying us through the rhythm of repeated days. Yet every dawn unveils a new hue: fleeting emotions, sudden encounters, quiet surprises.
In Melan, you step into what seems like an ordinary day in the life of An – a tale woven from everyday moments and subtle psychology. And there, you may come to realize that even the simplest fragments of life can hold a hidden depth.
We hope that Melan can bring you a piece of emotion – perhaps small, perhaps fleeting, but something that stays with you.
Gentle slice-of-life experience
A glimpse into school days — where teenage love, adolescent struggles, and even the smallest of moments come together to form a memorable day.

Atmospheric storytelling through subtle details
No epic battles, no grand adventures. The story unfolds in quiet moments, evoking emotions from the simplicity of everyday life.
A personal and reflective journey
With audio crafted for each moment, every scene resonates with the character’s emotions. Players are free to reflect, connect, and find their own meaning within the story.
Discover through interaction
The narrative gradually reveals itself as you explore the environment, interact with characters, and piece together fragments that shape the bigger picture.

Melan is a narrative-driven experience where the story gradually unfolds as you explore, interact with the environment, and connect with NPCs. No pressure, no rush — just a gentle, introspective journey through a slice of life.
