This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
Velaria wakes from a nightmare to find an abandoned orphanage. As childhood fears resurface, she must piece together lost memories and uncover a dark past. Explore, solve puzzles, and survive in this twisted place to find her true ending.
You play as Veloria, a high school girl who wakes up in a place that feels both familiar and strange. Following traces of her memory, she solves puzzles and meets strangers who seem oddly familiar. What she seeks is not just a way out—but the ultimate truth: Who is she? And why has she returned to this place?
The girl awakens in front of a gloomy orphanage.
Ashes swirl in the air, revealing a truth long buried: the real orphanage was consumed in a fire many years ago.
What stands here now is a distorted world, pieced together from fragments of memory.
In search of the truth, she steps through its doors.
Shrouded in eerie darkness, the building reveals its secrets only by the faint glow of candlelight…
Psychological depth reminiscent of Dostoevsky.
Carefully crafted puzzles and level design.
Art style with a sense of transparency.
Expressive CG scenes and visual effects.
Puzzles intertwined with deep narrative.
Shifting between memory and reality.
Exploration, stealth, and intense chase sequences.
"This is You" — Veloria
A timid and introverted girl who dislikes social interaction.
She has a kind heart and is extremely persistent when it comes to things she deems necessary.
Due to her struggle with expressing herself, she often appears emotionless.
"This is You as a Child" — Veloria
Grace
Harboring unspeakable secrets with "Grace's Home,"
appearing as a doll and moving with great difficulty,
always presenting an air of arrogance and having a fondness for colorful things.
Ethan
Soft-spoken like a girl, yet lively and passionate, capable of warming others with his presence.
As a child, his maturity led him to become Vellaria’s closest friend, relying on her deeply.
He enjoys savoring the amber candy Vellaria gave him, letting its sourness erode his teeth until the taste of rust—like Vellaria’s hair—seeps through.
Ella
Born with severe brittle bone disease, she is paralyzed from the waist down and confined to bed.
Always wearing a gentle smile, she rarely shows any strong emotions, possessing a maturity beyond her years.
She treats Vellaria with exceptional kindness.
Grian
The only teacher at Grace's Home, responsible for educating the children in various subjects, adored by them all.
Though an adult in appearance, he retains a childlike heart, often seeming foolishly innocent.
He frequently tells corny jokes to the children, though few respond—except for Vellaria.
Vianna
Claims to be your best friend.
