Guide: Installing RECOUP on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

      RECOUP

RECOUP is a light puzzle-adventure narrative game. Solve grid puzzles as you explore the vibrant new world. Experience the story through unique visual novel style cutscenes. Bring down faction leaders, uncover the pasts of the citizens and restore humanity. Meet a bunch of unique citizens, recruit and bargain through combat-like dialogue mechanics as you level up and modify your abilities to keep up with the new world.

      STORY

Its the year 2126, mankind invents a computer that uses technologies such as Quantum Superposition to alter reality. Effectively giving mankind the powers of a god. Yet, a scientist called Elma working at the lab is really not happy with how humanity is using it. In her mind its being used too conservatively and just for pleasure.

One day, she sees the machine calling her name, and at that moment, she makes a run and grabs it. A mere second is enough for her to tunnel and teleport out of the facility with the computer.

From then on, she erases Earth and humanity as we know it, replacing with her own ideals and utopia. Yet, a man manages to survive. Unable to do much in his life as a human, he transfers his mind to a robot and sets his way to end this twisted world Elma created and bring back humanity.

      PUZZLES

There are multiple types of puzzles in this game. As you solve them, you get XP and progress by unlocking doors and powering objects. The puzzles, at their core, are grid puzzles in which you move around and reaching the green point with one contingency. In some puzzles, the contingency is filling enough squares, later, it grows more variety.

      XP

As you gain XP, you can level up your character or your faction, (Explained in the section below) allowing you to be more stronger in the battles, or just have a better life by moving faster.

      BATTLES

You don't actually fight your foes. Instead, the battle sequences are called negotiations. And different characters have different types. For example, a depressive type character will be naturally weaker against a manipulator type character.

      ALLIES

When you're successful enough in negotiations, your foes will become your allies and join your faction. Once they join your faction, they become playable characters in the negotiation sequences. Which means that you've always got new sets of characters that you can upgrade and new sets of moves you can use, keeping each moment fresh and unique.

      STORYTELLING

The story is a fully fleshed one and certainly isn't sidelined. You experience and uncover the story with the characters, as they grow, start and end new arcs. As your faction grows, you're introduced to more characters.

      DIALOGUES

The dialogues are communicated through visual novel style cutscenes with multiple routes that talks can go.
