Guide: Installing YOUR HOUSE on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is YOUR HOUSE? Features and Description

A narrative puzzle-thriller that blurs the lines between games and books, reality and fiction, puzzles and storytelling.

YOUR HOUSE is a unique, text-driven mystery game that blends immersive reading with interactive puzzles, pulling players into a gripping thriller. Set in the 1990s, it follows Debbie, a rebellious teenager on a mission to uncover the secrets of a mysterious mansion.

The house itself is a living puzzle, holding the hidden pasts of three enigmatic characters. As Debbie progresses, she unravels their intertwined stories—tales of defying societal expectations to pursue personal dreams.

YOUR HOUSE delves into themes of identity, motherhood, and the price of freedom, introducing a fresh storytelling format that explores the boundaries of video games and books.

On the day she comes of age, Debbie’s world falls apart—expelled from school, betrayed by her boyfriend and best friend, and hit by a car. At midnight, she finds an envelope on her bed containing a cryptic postcard, an address, and a key. With nothing left to lose, she escapes from the boarding school, steals a motorcycle, and heads toward the address. There, she discovers a mansion shrouded in mystery.

Questions flood her mind: Who sent the letter? Is the house a gift or a cruel joke? The deeper she ventures inside, the more the lines between truth and illusion blur, leading her to a dark revelation that will change her life forever.

  • Text as Gameplay: Progress through a gripping five-chapter thriller by reading and solving intricate puzzles.

  • Inspired by a True Story: Based on a real-life Manhattan apartment designed by architect Eric Clough, YOUR HOUSE conceals a hidden mystery rooted in reality.

  • Striking Aesthetics: YOUR HOUSE features a noir comic visual style that captivates and enhances the mysterious atmosphere.

  • Seamlessly Integrated Puzzles: Experience challenging, escape room-style puzzles that blend effortlessly with the narrative, adding depth without disrupting the story flow.

  • Immersive Storytelling: YOUR HOUSE merges the worlds of games and literature, pushing the boundaries of both mediums to deliver a unique and engaging narrative experience.

  • A Prequel: YOUR HOUSE serves as the prequel to our debut game, UNMEMORY.

YOUR HOUSE is more than just a building—it’s a living puzzle that weaves together the stories of a lost teenager seeking answers and a wise woman fighting against societal expectations to embrace her true self. As their paths intersect, a powerful and unexpected conclusion reshapes both their lives. With hidden doors, secret rooms, mysterious objects, and underground passages to explore, players must read and solve intricate puzzles to unlock the house’s deepest secrets and uncover the truth it conceals.

A house knows everything about you—what you eat, what you read, when you go to bed, and when you watch TV. It hears your laughter, witnesses your fears, and feels your tears. It knows your secrets—your pillow fights, your loud music, and even your dances in front of the mirror. But how much do you really know about it?
