This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
Coreless is a roguelike action game built around moment-to-moment tactical choices. Choose from a set of hero classes, manage a pool of swappable Powers, and make real-time decisions that shape each battle. Between runs, unlock Addons and talents to expand your combat options and long-term strategy.
Coreless is still in active development. Try out the demo — your progress will carry over to the full version if you decide to jump in and help shape its future!
In Coreless, you're not just reacting — you're also constantly making small, tactical decisions.
This isn’t a mash-to-win game, though you’ll earn your satisfying moments of carnage. You’ll make split-second decisions — then reap the rewards or pay the price.
In each session, you can collect up to six Powers, with only two active at a time. Since switching comes with a cooldown, both timing and planning play a role.
Do you use your Overdrive now and risk taking a hit, or wait and reposition?
Which Power should you burn on this elite pack — and will that choice leave you powerless later?
Is this the time to use a rare consumable, or do you hold out for a worse wave?
Hold-to-charge Overdrive skills demand foresight, not just reflex
Consumables that matter, capable of turning the tide if used wisely
Loadout rotation forces you to evaluate tradeoffs on the fly
Enemies punish panic, rewarding poise and timing
Events and encounters offer meaningful choices — generous or punishing, never neutral
In Coreless, it’s not just about stats — it’s also about how you fight. Every action matters.
Success isn't just surviving a run — it's learning, adapting, and unlocking smarter tools.
Failures feed into a persistent Talent Tree, improving stats and unlocking strategic perks
Unlock and equip Addons — permanent modifiers that expand your moveset and enable new combat loops
Each run fuels your long-term progression, helping you refine your personal playstyle
This is grind — with purpose.
Coreless is still growing. New content is in development, and fresh design directions are waiting to be explored.
Joining now means you can help shape where this game goes next.
