Guide: Installing Lunar Ascendant on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is Lunar Ascendant? Features and Description

The political drama set in a future that's too close for comfort. Become the first mayor of ARTEMIS: A Pioneering Lunar City. Navigate the future of lunar colonization, choose between independence and cooperation, shape policies for or against AI influence, and tackle interplanetary conspiracies.

Take on the role of David De Silva, a simple man who did the right thing in an impossible situation, only to find himself the first mayor of lunar city Artemis.

It’s the year 2131. Earth’s nations are united under a singular federation, and the people of this new society are subdued into practicing their professions under a new and undeniably competent supervision: The AIA.

Artificial Intelligence Absolute is a next-phase AI model that has become a global extension of the United Earth Federation in governing the people of the planet.

All human endeavor is surrendered to the oversight of algorithmic perfection in order to ensure flawless operation. There are many that dislike the idea, and for them, there is a place of refuge; a safe haven.

Artemis, originally built as an extraterrestrial mining outpost, is now the de facto promised land for a new way of life, a step back in the right direction, a self-proclaimed course correction toward the natural way of things.

For some time now, the dynamics between the United Earth Federation and Artemis have been in growing turmoil, and it will only get worse if the status quo persists.

Humankind is at a crossroads that will shape the future of the species.

And you, David De Silva, are a simple man.

Or you were, until today …

Engage in detailed discussions with various faction representatives to gather insights on matters concerning the city’s future. Serve as the final decision-maker on how to allocate the city's limited resources.

Choose between independence and alliance by siding with either the Lunar Independence Movement or United Earth Federation. Invest in the city’s living conditions to increase your popularity, or focus on the long-run and invest in self-sustainability, but brace for possible negative outcomes.

Decide whether to allow advanced AI systems into your city for the sake of convenience and comfort, or denounce the digitalist future and preserve the natural way of living. Beware: the people of Artemis do not take kindly to AI, even if it’s for their own well-being.

Discover how the hidden ties that bind humanity’s fate are paving the way toward an inevitable future, and the dark agenda behind the rapid rise of AI.

Dare to investigate the bloody cases of AI mind-reaping that riddle the back alleys of your city, or keep your nose clean at the risk of innocent lives.
