Guide: Installing Squeebing Up the Tower of Friendship on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is Squeebing Up the Tower of Friendship? Features and Description

Can you make it to the top of the Tower of Friendship? Run, jump, climb, fall, and then do it all again. Play by yourself or with your friends. Be nice and lay down to make jumps easier for others, or push each other off when the falls are the highest. But whatever you do, never stop squeebing.

Can you make it to the top of the Tower of Friendship? Run, jump, climb, fall all the way back down, and do it all again. Inspired by games like Only Up! and Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy, this hardcore platformer will test your abilities and your patience.

Start at the bottom of the tower and slowly climb higher and higher. Run along easy paths, jump between spaced platforms, and even grab ledges and pull yourself up if a jump falls a little short. Beware though, there are no checkpoints, and falling off usually leads to falling all the way back down.

Play by yourself or with up to 7 other friends! Decide what types of interaction you want to allow: don't interact at all, simply passing through each other; allow only helping each other, such as laying down to make hard jumps easier for others; allow malicious interactions, such as pushing each other off platforms; or allow all interactions, where there is maximum potential to mess around in both helpful and hurtful ways with your friends.

There will also be rest stops along the way, with large, safe platforms you can relax on before continuing the climb up. Listen to some nice music, take in the scenery, or go grab a snack. Some of the rest stops will have minigames you can play with your friends, like soccer, sumo wrestling, or parkour competitions.

This game is not for everyone, if you get frustrated easily, or don't want to be stuck doing the same thing for a long time, this game is probably not for you. However, you will be able to save your progress when you quit the game, so you can pick back up where you left off for your next play session.

Can you successfully navigate to the top of the tower? Watch your step and make calculated decisions, or send it and brazenly climb. But whatever you do, never stop squeebing.
