Guide: Installing Supergalactix on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is Supergalactix? Features and Description

A casual planet-conquering strategic game that in its simplicity offers great complexity and numerous game modes like tournaments, campaigns, online/LAN play, and much more! Bundled with a multitude of AI bots, maps and missions. Prepare for hours of fun! :-)

Supergalactix is a fast-paced strategic planet-conquering game, where you strive for galactic dominance. Its core mechanics are fairly simple, but as in chess, the game becomes very complex once you learn all of its aspects and progress through the campaign. As a spiritual successor to an old web based game (Intergalactics) it can be described in similar terms: a galactic chess.

Aim of the game is to conquer all enemy planets on the map. Each planet has its own production value, which dictates the speed of ship production. You can send ships off of your planet to any other planet - if target planet is enemy, a battle will commence once ships arrive at the planet. In case of your own planets or that of allies, those planets get reinforced by the ships you send to them.

Planets under your control can be upgraded (depending on the game mode) - with production, defense or radar upgrades. Upgrades can make ship production faster, increase defense value of the planet or construct radars on planet that will reveal any enemy movements close to the planet.

Supergalactix offers different game modes. In some your ships will be able to travel via hyper tunnels using Hyper engine (fastest way of travelling in the game), in some only using Warp engines or both, in some enemy movements will be visible in others not, in some planet upgrades will be allowed. Game mechanics may also be adjusted with skirmish games (game speed, ship costs, ships per fleet, and much more). The game offers variety of custom settings to adjust to your favourite play style and difficulty level.

A Supergalactix game can last from a couple of minutes to up to an hour or more. Play it with your pace - casually or by progressing through campaign, tournaments, online play and more!

Prepare for many hours of fun! :)
