This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
Survive Earth’s harshest conditions on a devastatingly beautiful journey shaped by the choices you make, the paths you take, and the stories you weave with the mysterious animals of Antarctica.
Welcome to the harshest and most majestic place on Earth: Antarctica.
This story takes place in the distant future: AD 2900.
Earth has been ravaged by a number of disasters. Lethal viruses, food shortages, extreme weather, and unending wars have all but completely decimated the population. Survivors find themselves without homes, and this once lush planet has been transformed into a desolate star.
Amidst this chaos, a mysterious signal is suddenly sent out to all countries on Earth. Its source? The South Pole.
It indicates the possible existence of abundant resources. A ray of hope in dark times.
And so, the protagonist—a young child, comes to be the bearer of humanity's last hope.
This child heads to Antarctica, an environment that has seen the most extreme levels of pollution.
Your goal is to find the truth: just who was it that sent out the signal, and why?
And what fate awaits the future of humanity?

The threats that obstruct your path.
With an ancient map as your guide, traverse each area and make your way to your final destination: the South Pole.
Hold your own against the harsh and unpredictable Antarctic environment. Manage your stamina, and use your wits and ingenuity to survive.
- Blizzards
The merciless, violent blizzards that sweep across the land will threaten your life with the hazardous materials they pick up. Use obstacles such as walls to help you endure the terrifying winds.
- Sub-Zero Temperatures
At times, temperatures in Antarctica can fall as far as below -30°C. Long-lasting cold will rapidly decrease your stamina, so be cautious.
- Radiation Hazards
Past wars have left Antarctica polluted by radiation. Take care that your hazmat suit doesn't start malfunctioning...
- Viral Infection
The pollution of Antarctica is made worse by the deadly viruses that lurk within. Activate Disinfection Devices and clean up polluted areas as you journey forward.
Craft and Build System
The key to surviving the dangers of Antarctica are the remnants of advanced technologies from before this era of ruin: "Craft" and "Build"
Collect resources such as stone and wood, or even scrap parts of Lost Technology. Use these to make important items for your journey.
1. Collect Materials
Craft various items out of the resources you find while exploring. Your survival will be determined by your management of materials and stamina. Keep an eye on your stamina as you secure resources.
2. Craft (and Restore Lost Technology)
When you discover an item that looks useful, scan it using a high-spec 3D printer and register it to your Craft List. It may be possible to create large-scale devices by combining crafted items.
3. Build (on the Spot)
Crafted items can be built on the spot, depending on the circumstances. You are in the most extreme environment known to man, so be strategic as you explore. This will ensure your survival. Make sure to craft items beforehand, so that they are ready to be built during an emergency.
