Guide: Installing SMYS : Show Me Your Stairs on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

SMYS is a local multiplayer party game. Challenge your friends in this building race to the top! Gather blocks during various minigames and then use them to build your stairs as fast as possible, use your items wisely to create disturbance into your friends' minds and reach the objective first.

In SMYS, you play as a zglub, a wild little creature with an insatiable hunger for sweets of all sorts. Above all, yumyums are by far zglubs' favorites and it is no surprise you'd be willing to fight over your comrades to be the one to get a taste of those heavenly delicious treats. Through the use of canons, grapples and trampolines you'll be gathering blocks to build a staircase to your feast.

Each round starts with a picking phase during which you'll play one of various minigames the game has to offer. During these minigames you'll have to gather a library of blocks and items to be used later in the game. In most minigames, all players will have access to the same items and will have to fight over each others to add the items they want to their personal library.

After the picking phase, the building phase starts. Your goal is to build a staircase that allows you to get to the objective before the other team. It is the main stage of the game in which you'll be using all the blocks and items you have gathered previously. Here starts a building race during which you'll have to choose wisely how to place the blocks you have gathered and when to use your special items to slow the opposing team as much as possible.

When a player reaches the yumyum, he eats it and it is added to the team's collection. The first team to complete its collection wins the game.

Steam Remote Play
While being a local multiplayer game only, Steam Remote Play allows you to play up to 4 players with a single copy of the game.
