This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
A turn-based food truck tycoon game and a mash-up of classic tycoons with wacky 90s nostalgia. You’ll manage a street food cart, expand to food trucks, and sell to quirky customers in a comedic storyline. It has a good amount of management depth, analytics, strategy, and a nostalgic vibe.
Ever dreamed of turning a simple food cart into a city-wide empire of flavour?
In Business Heroes: Street Grub, you play as an aspiring street food entrepreneur, starting with one tiny stall and expanding through strategy, savvy, and delicious cooking. This game combines turn-based strategy and business simulation to deliver a quirky, deep tycoon experience.
In our demo, you can play the opening weeks of your street food venture – will you become the talk of the town or go bust by the weekend?
🕒 Turn-Based Gameplay – Plan & Execute: Each in-game day is a turn. Night is for planning: choose your menu, set prices, pick your location. Hit “Start Day” and watch the customers roll in! No twitch reflexes needed – strategise at your own pace, then sit back and see the results.
🍔 Customisable Burgers – Craft the Perfect Recipe: Master the art of burger creation by choosing the right ingredients to delight each customer segment. Every demographic has a preferred flavour combination, and discovering the perfect burger recipe for each group is the secret to skyrocketing your food truck’s popularity!
🚚 Expand Your Fleet – From Cart to Double Decker: Grow from a single food cart to a fleet of food trucks. Upgrade your ride – get bigger grills, louder speakers, or a shiny new van. Unlock new trucks and assign them to different districts to multiply your revenue. (By the end of the demo, you can manage 3 trucks – in the full game, even more!)
🤝 Events: Random events like sudden rainstorms or viral trends will keep you on your toes and force you to adapt.
📈 Business Management Made Fun: Handle marketing, reviews, and budgeting in a light-hearted way. Launch ad campaigns and watch your popularity soar. Just don’t run out of cash – take a loan if you must, but the bank will want it back!
🏆 Sandbox Mode & Replayability: Each play-through is different. Try Sandbox Mode to build an empire without time limits or take on Challenge Scenarios. With procedural events and multiple strategies to try, Street Grub offers high replay value even after you master the main campaign.
Career Mode: Dive into the day-to-day excitement of running your food truck, facing all the challenges and rewards that come with business ownership.
The legend of Business Heroes begins here.
Master Lee, once the world’s greatest entrepreneur, is running out of time — and patience. With no worthy heir to his empire, he creates the ultimate challenge: a business simulation so tough, only a true successor can conquer it. Based on his first venture, Street Grub throws you into the chaos of starting a food truck from scratch. Survive disasters, outsmart rivals, and grow faster than anyone dares — all while meeting Master Lee’s mysterious conditions. Will you rise… or get fried?
Sandbox Mode: Flex your creative muscles and explore various strategies without limits.
Weekly Challenge Mode: Test your skills against unique daily scenarios to maximise profits under varying conditions.
Time Challenge Mode: Compete to set record valuations and climb to the top of the leaderboards.
We are just getting started. We will be adding the following to the game:
Career: Large Enterprise Mode – Go beyond street food and scale up to a dozen multiple trucks, staff, and logistics like a true empire. (Includes several dashboards)
Achievements – Unlock over 100 fun and challenging Steam achievements as you grow your business and master the food truck life.
Time Challenge Mode – Compete against the clock in high-pressure scenarios where every second (and sale) counts.
Leaderboards – Climb the local and global rankings. Compare your company value, strategies, and efficiency with others.
Weekly Challenges – Special themed events with modifiers and rewards to keep gameplay fresh.
Daytime Actions – Interact more dynamically with the city during the day, from marketing stunts to mid-day strategy shifts.
New Products – Expand your business with Tacos, Ramen, Sandwiches, and Hot Dogs – each with its own ingredients and strategies.
AI Competitors – Smarter, more unpredictable rival vendors to compete with in various districts.
Multiplayer – Face off against friends (or foes) in real-time or turn-based food truck showdowns.
