Guide: Installing Retchid on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is Retchid? Features and Description

You are a TEC Engineer from Earth ordered to retrieve and return sensitive data from the TEC Mining Facility on Titan. On arrival, you discover that the facility has been invaded by beings from another realm. Contend with these abominations as you complete your mission and escape Titan.

Retchid is an immersive, atmospheric, and methodically paced First Person Shooter, containing some cosmic horror influences and a pinch of Mesoamerican themes. The game has intense and visceral combat combined with exploration and light puzzle solving.

Retchid is being built by a small, passionate team of Indie developers with over 50 years of combined industry experience working in AAA, who are committed to delivering a fun and engaging game experience.

You're a TEC Engineer from Earth on a mission to a Mining Facility on Titan, Saturn’s largest moon. The Mining Facility is run by the Terra Excavation Corp (TEC), who have discovered something nefarious deep below Titan's surface.

Their research on this discovery is classified and has been placed into an offline encrypted data module deep within the Mining Facility. Your orders are to retrieve and return the classified research data and the encryption keys and return to Earth.

But, when you arrive on Titan, you realise you’re the only human alive. Fight through deadly enemies across multiple worlds to complete your mission and escape Titan.

Play through over 20 non-linear levels split across 3 episodes, full of atmosphere, exploration, and puzzle solving.
Each level has been hand-crafted to create a unique experience that is reminiscent of level design philosophies from older generation games.

Explore to discover secrets, find collectibles, weapon and suit upgrades, and find PDAs to learn what happened at the TEC Mining facility.

With 10 different weapons at your disposal, you can mix and match weapons to do maximum damage to your enemies.

Each weapon can be upgraded 2-3 times allowing you to use a secondary firing mode, changing the flow of combat. The players suit can also be upgraded with various upgrades, including larger armor capacity and ammo capacity.

Use the Personal Data Assistant to track various items:

• Collect TEC employee PDAs to read Emails and Logs about what took place at the facility
 • The equipment tab keeps track of all your weapons and suit upgrades
 • Keep track of your current Primary and Secondary Objectives
 • Various collectibles that are collected in the PDA can be read about
 • All your favourite gameplay stats are tracked and stored in the Stats tab such as kills, player deaths, health packs found, ammo found, etc.
