Guide: Installing Bold Ideas on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is Bold Ideas? Features and Description

Bold Ideas!Bold Ideas!Bold Ideas!

The good news is: the video is a real game record!

The bad news is: you don’t have to doubt it, the video shows almost all the gameplay! There is even no gameplay in some scenes, just a different angle to watch!

The important thing: It’s not a sandbox! It’s not a sandbox! It’s not a sandbox! It’s just a very simple variety of separate small worlds!

Friendly reminder: This game is poor and blank, with almost no UI, no music, and even no decent models. It can be said that there is nothing except ideas. There are only different experiences and different bugs!

Final warning: Bold Ideas is not a serious game, and many people say it doesn’t look like a "game", so buy it carefully. In addition, if you feel that it is not what you want after buying it, just boldly refund it~ As long as something can make you happy, it’s good!

The nonsense is as follows: "Bold Ideas" was rushed out by me to force myself to "finish it first"! Because I found that if I want to realize all the ideas, I may have to wait until next year to complete them. In the end, I decided to delete a lot of ideas that affect the construction period, and only keep the ideas that are easy to do and can be quickly realized with ready-made plug-ins! So "Bold Ideas" was finally completed within the time I planned, and I am very happy! Although it is very rough, it is very interesting~

Encourage you: In 2016, I took the time to make an iOS game. That was my first time making my own game. At that time, I was full of hope and thought that it would sell well after it was put on the shelves, thus reaching the peak of my life. Of course, it was not surprising that it fell into the sea later, haha! This time I abandoned the so-called experience and skills I have accumulated over the years and focused on bold ideas! And my mentality has become much calmer, and my expectations are also very low. For me now, as long as I can make it, it is a victory! Instead of being trapped in the so-called "perfection" and repeatedly procrastinating...

Needs for approval: "Bold Ideas" is a "stand-alone casual game". It is not a single story or gameplay, nor does it have mandatory goals or require you to win. It is just a collection of various small ideas. There are many different simple small worlds in it. You can play different roles and experience different feelings:

You can tour the city and animal planet from a God's perspective; you can play a black hole to eat various objects on the planet; you can transform into a light ball and travel between colorful clouds; you can roam in the white world; you can drive a forklift to shovel various fruits; you can control the little man to knock down the opponent; you can drag the little man at will from a God's perspective; you can control a group of little men to fly on the planet; you can experience being physically ejected by various mechanisms! You can shoot arrows at the enemy to generate balloons and pull him up; there is a UI in the upper left corner of the game to specifically introduce the special settings and operation buttons of each world, hoping to bring you a different experience!
