Guide: Installing MiLE HiGH TAXi on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is MiLE HiGH TAXi? Features and Description

'The Fifth Element' Meets 'Crazy Taxi'! Deliver Zany Passengers While Dodging Mile-High Skyscrapers & Blabbermouth Pedestrians.

It’s the 24th century, citizen. Mile High City is hiring new taxi drivers. Get in your hovercab and collect fares already, and don't let the meter run out!

“MiLE HiGH TAXi is The Fifth Element meets Crazy Taxi”. ‘nuff said! Add it to your wishlist!

Drive your flying taxi cab in a race against time, transporting as many wacky passengers as you can before the meter clock runs out. Pick a driver and car and get going already!

Choose From 3 Different Game Play Modes.

  • In regular mode, choose which passengers to pick up and drop off in order to maximize earnings and extend your game time and career
  • With Challenge mode, you'll deliver passengers sequentially to level up, as the game gets progressively more difficult
  • In Free Roam mode you can freely explore with no time-limits, learning the city's layout, advanced hidden shortcuts, and other secrets

Pick a car and driver. Your new taxi driver career is an opportunity to get out and make some money. Fly through Mile High City picking up quirky passengers from super skyscrapers while avoiding loudmouth pedestrians. Deliver them to destinations fast enough to keep your job and earn bonus time. Keep your eyes on the sky - especially when using Hyper Drive Boost. You're not the only one driving the Skyways, and strange things are happening in Mile High City these days! Use your NavCom AI to help you navigate and find hidden customers.

Once you learn the city, use narrow back alleys to navigate faster while blasting through skyway traffic at up to 250mph in the 600+ floor level.

MiLE HiGH TAXi is like "The Fifth Element meets Crazy Taxi". Deliver Zany Passengers, Dodge Mile-High Skyscrapers, and Blabbermouth Pedestrians.

Here are some of the games I'm told are either similar, or that I took some inspiration from: Crazy Taxi, Taxi Chaos, CloudPunk, CyberPunk 2077 (I'm not sure why?), Forza, Grand Theft Auto (maybe because driving into people?), BeamNG.drive, the Coruscant scene from Star Wars, Midnight Club 3 (I'm guessing because of the architecture of the buildings), and last but not least is Taxi Simulator.
