Guide: Installing Destructive Contraptions on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is Destructive Contraptions? Features and Description

Destructive Contraptions is a physics sandbox where you build crazy machines out of dominoes, cannons, and pivots to trigger massive chain reactions. Design chaotic inventions and demolish giant cities, all without worrying about real world laws or life threatening liabilities.

Have you ever dreamed of building a massive chain of dominoes and watching them collapse one by one, or shattering a skyscraper without having to worry about real world laws or life threatening liabilities? If you’re one of those people, you just found your dream game.

Welcome to the world of Destructive Contraptions the ultimate physics based sandbox simulator where your only goal is to create, trigger, and destroy.

🛠️ The Power is in Your Hands

We give you the tools; how you use them is completely up to you. Build intricate machines, map out chaotic chain reactions, and watch your inventions smash into a variety of giant structures ranging from historical monuments and complex buildings to entire cities. Once your creation is ready, just sit back, relax, and enjoy the glorious architectural collapse.

          🌀 Unpredictable Physics, Infinite Chaos

Because the game is heavily physics-based, no two sessions will ever play out the same way. A domino hitting a fraction of a millimeter differently can completely change the collapse, resulting in unpredictable, hilarious, and chaotic moments every single time you press play.

The floor is yours to fill. What will you build first?

          ⚙️ Key Features

          • A Massive Toybox of Objects: Mix and match an extensive variety of items to build your ultimate machine. Experiment with dominoes, pushers, pivots, trees, and fully destructible building blocks to see how they interact.

          • Time Manipulation & Freezing: Take complete control over the timeline. Slow things down to a crawl to appreciate every single shattering piece in cinematic slow motion, or freeze time entirely to fly around and inspect your chaotic masterpiece from any angle.

          • Full Sandbox Level Editor: Don't just build contraptions, build the entire world. Use the built-in level editor to design your own custom maps, challenges, and structural targets from scratch.

          • Day & Night Modes: Change the atmosphere of your simulation instantly. Watch your glorious chain reactions unfold under the bright midday sun, or test your creations under the cover of darkness.

          • Steam Workshop Integration: Share your most ingenious (or absurd) levels and contraptions with the world, and instantly download and test thousands of unique creations built by the community.
