Guide: Installing X-OUT on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is X-OUT? Features and Description

X-OUT is a game of strategic action where avoiding X-like enemies is key to the game.

X-OUT is a game of strategic action, but yet very simple.

You must dodge all the Xs thrown your way in a matter of seconds, and if you intend to survive the game, you must do this with great strategy, as those who don’t will be X-ED OUT and Game Over.

Climb your way up the pyramid, and learn to dodge the Xs with great talent as you will need it to make it through the game.

In X-OUT, they are three levels of gameplay to do this:
A Tutorial Level.
This level is designed in black and white, with colors out of the way of distraction, to get you used to the game by moving the character using the arrow keys.

This is to assist your build-up to the strategy needed to complete the game. In about 35 seconds, the tutorial level is over, and it's on to level 2.

The 2nd Level. Full of Strategy.
The 2nd level of the game is also in black and white, and is also the last non-color level of the game.

This level will use the mouse or trackpad to dodge the X-like enemies, thus be careful where you move your character: one wrong move into an X and game over.

Level 3. Strategy Gone Mad.
The 3rd level of X-OUT is the first color level, and it's themed out in green.

With cross-obstacles and X-like enemies gone wild all over, this level will take several minutes to complete, but when you've made it through, you've completed X-OUT and can do it all over again to beat your score every time around.
