Guide: Installing ZEROED on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is ZEROED? Features and Description

Do you like really fast-paced games? Do you hate slamming into walls at 900mph while playing them? Our objective with this game was to give you the feeling of speed without the fear that tends to come with it. And pretty explosions!

Speed. Spectacle. Easy to pick up, hard to master. Those were literally the first words written when creating the concept for this game.

I noticed most fast-paced racers tend to have claustrophobic and dark environments. The goal behind ours was to open it up to natural, bright scenery. Early on in that mission I discovered another change I wanted to make: I hate hitting walls while playing any fast-paced game. My answer to that? Remove the walls!

So our on-road racer became a flying racer... On a rail? Kind of hard to explain but the harder something is to explain, the more unique the concept is, right? Imagine being on a roller coaster but you have the ability to choose which side of the track you're on. Add to that the idea that if you're on the inside of each bend of the track, you maintain more of your speed. Then give yourself some weapon options that explode in beautiful color and you've got this game!

Currently there is one online mode to play against your friends and other available players, and one offline mode where you can test yourself against CPU opponents. Pretty sparse, huh? Well, we're the most interested in your feedback of this conceptually at this point. If the general consensus is that it's fun to play, we've got plenty of additional modes to introduce in the near future!

So grab a controller (this game plays far, far better with one!), pick a color, choose a track and let 'er rip! When you're done, feel free to leave your opinion a review and/or join our Discord to let us know directly what you thought!
