Guide: Installing TRF - The Race Factory on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

Made with an emphasis on local multiplayer and customization. Inspired by arcade racing games of the 80's and 90's, featuring drift physics, weapons to give you the advantage, a track editor & more, the aim is to have a fun multiplayer experience, with plenty of variety to keep you entertained!

The Race Factory is made with a heavy emphasis on multiplayer and the ability to create your own race tracks. Taking inspiration from arcade racing games of the 80's and 90's, featuring drift physics, weapons to give you the advantage over the competition, and plenty of customization, the aim is to have a fun multiplayer experience, with plenty of variety to keep you entertained!

* Features listed below are the features currently in the game, more gamemodes, tracks, and other content are planned for after launch. All of which will be available for free.

Features:

- A healthy serving of game modes are available, from Racing, to Drift, to Infection, and more! There's a bunch of game modes for everyone to enjoy! All game modes support AI drivers and all game modes support at least 4 local players, some game modes support up to 8 local players!

- Track Editor included in the game. This track editor was used to build all the tracks that come with the game, so you can create an endless amount of tracks to enjoy! This includes a racing line editor, allowing you to fine-tune the AI's behaviour on your track. The track editor is capable of making both racing tracks and custom Battle Arenas.

- Online leaderboards allow you to compete against the world and your friends in Mission mode or Time Attack mode. Missions are short challenges around technical courses. Time Attack mode puts you on a hot lap around any of the games race tracks and pits you against the worlds best, where everyone is on a level-footing, and competition is fierce to get the best time!

- 12 Race Tracks and 3 Battle Arenas come with the game, so if creating tracks isn't your thing, you can jump straight into the game and battle it out with your friends! More Tracks and Arenas will be added after launch.

- 6 Car classes, Street, Sport, Super, Hyper, as well as Trucks and Formula cars. You can take it easy in the Street class, with plenty of time to react, it's the ideal choice for newer or younger drivers. But when you feel ready, hop into a Hyper car for some edge-of-your-seat racing, and the real pros can try their hand at taming a Formula car, much faster and with much more grip than your standard car! Or you can just drive a 20 ton truck around the track!

- A variety of power-ups are available to mess with your opponents, from a Bolt that will force your target into a drift, a Strike that will hit the driver in 1st position, a nifty Nitro to boost yourself ahead of the pack, to a Shield that will help you stay there!

- Choose your time of day and weather settings! Race on a sunny morning, Drift on a rainy evening, perhaps even play Infection on a stormy night? Be careful though, in snowy weather, the cars won't respond how you'd like! You can even drive during a meteor shower!

- Then we have the Mutators, fun little settings you can change to switch things up, such as disabling brakes whilst forcing cars to always be accelerating, there's a few little surprises in there to keep the action interesting!

** Remote Play Together via Steam is supported. This allows players to play together over the internet, even though the game is local multiplayer only. A decent internet connection is required.
