Guide: Installing Aurora: The Lost Medallion Episode I on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is Aurora: The Lost Medallion Episode I? Features and Description

Join Aurora and Neemo in this 2D, point & click, sci-fi, fantasy, family adventure through the Trappist-1 planetary system. Meet alien creatures, crazy robots and jealous children as you uncover the secrets of the past and harness the power of the Lost Medallion, in this epic quadrilogy.

Aurora: The Lost Medallion Episode I, is a 2D, hand-drawn, sci-fi, fantasy, point & click adventure game. In short, it is a family space adventure, about an alien girl's quest to find her identity. Inspired by old classics of the genre, the game blends comedy and drama to form a story that challenges your brain and teases your heart.

Our story takes place in the Trappist-1 planetary system, approximately 39 light years away from Earth. Below the frozen surface of planet Eedor, a group of children has spent their entire lives in the safe confines of a technologically advanced cave, raised by artificially intelligent robots. Without knowledge of their origins and with only a voice recording to guide them, the children devote their lives to the maintenance of their underground society and the preparation for the “Pilgrimage”, a task that has proven impossible for the chosen “pilgrims”, time and time again.

Aurora, our heroine, is the only child in the Cave with a mysteriously incomplete message. As her wild, curious nature is challenged by the rigid society of the Cave, and the frustration over her confusing identity grows, Aurora decides to take matters into her own hands. The next celebration is coming; this is her chance to prove herself a worthy “pilgrim” and attempt the impossible journey through the frozen wastes of Eedor, to the top of the “Hollow Mountain”. There, she may finally ask the “Voices” her one and only question:

“What is my Voice?”

Aurora:
Aurora is the youngest child in the Cave. She is wild, curious and defiant. Her dream is to join the Pilgrims and undertake the Pilgrimage, a task reserved for the most disciplined children in the Cave.

Neemo:
Neemo is a strange, floating creature that secretly lives in the Cave. His existence is unknown to everyone except for Aurora, who has developed an unlikely relationship with him over the years. Neemo’s desires and decisions are strange and seemingly... random.

Kylar:
Kylar is the oldest kid in the Cave and the brother of Aurora. A talented engineer and leader of the Pilgrims, he is a voice of order in the Cave and other children admire him for his dedication and bravery.
